Next month September, The event will take place in Seville. Commemoration of the 500th anniversary of the First Circumnavigation of the World. All visitors and locals will have the opportunity to delve into the feat of the great navigators, Magellan and Elcano.
The story of the first circumnavigation of the world
Our planet was never the same after this expedition. Two hundred and thirty-nine men and five ships set sail from the city of Seville in 1519 in search of a westward spice route. Three years later, eighteen men and one ship returned, having circumnavigated the globe.

Consequences of Magellan and Elcano's voyage
This journey can be considered the culmination of a whole series of previous expeditions, especially those carried out by Christopher Columbus, Vasco da Gama and Vasco Núñez de Balboa.
These comings and goings formed a network of intercontinental exchanges: human, biological, agricultural, cultural and economic, which included the creation of trade routes between continents and their integration into a global economic system.
This process, which involved all cultures, paradoxically generated the emergence of a single world and the possibility of conceiving of it as a whole. For the first time, a universal story.
The first circumnavigation of the world is undoubtedly one of the most important events in human history. The accounts of the voyage and the dissemination of new geographical and ethnographic data helped broaden the intellectual horizons of the time.
The first circumnavigation of the world was the key piece, or even more so, the keystone, that allows us to speak today of a first globalization or of a first globalization.
