The Collegiate Church of Osuna

Many think it might be a convent, a gigantic monastery that rises above the skyline of Osuna, on the horizon. Others liken it to a castle, but the truth is that this monumental building dressed in golden ochre is, in reality, a church.

Why is it called a “Collegiate Church”?

Some people think it could be because it is part of a school, however, a collegiate church has a different distinction from other temples.

A collegiate church is a Catholic church that, while not a cathedral, has a chapter. The person who governs the church is called the dean, although occasionally they are also called... abbot either prior.
